Day 3 Clean It Up Challenge

Good morning and welcome to Day 3 of the Clean It Up Challenge!

You’ve made it through two days of cleaning up what you put IN and ON your body. Today, we’re turning our attention to what you LIVE WITH – the environment around you.

Today’s Focus: Cleaning up what you live with in your home.

Our homes should be a sanctuary, but did you know that indoor air can often be more polluted than outdoor air? This is why today we’re going to tackle your home’s environment, focusing on cleaning products and indoor air quality.

Why Clean Home Products Matter?

Many conventional cleaning products contain harsh chemicals that can irritate your skin, eyes, and respiratory system. These chemicals can also contribute to long-term health issues, including asthma, allergies, and other respiratory problems. By switching to safer, eco-friendly products, you can create a healthier home environment for yourself and your family.

Your Guide to Day 3:

  1. Clean It Up Challenge Guide: Ensure you have your copy of the guide, which covers today’s focus in detail. If you haven’t picked up your copy yet just swing by the front desk to get one.

  2. Air Quality Awareness: Indoor air quality is crucial. We’ll discuss simple ways to improve the air quality in your home, including ventilation and air purifiers.

  3. Product Evaluation: Evaluate your cleaning products and home maintenance supplies, and replace them with safer options.

Day 3 Action Items:

  1. Read the Guide: Start by reading the section labeled “Day Three: What You Live With in Your Home” in your Clean It Up Challenge Guide.

  2. Product Audit: Go through your cleaning supplies, including those for lawn and garden maintenance. Check for products with harsh chemicals and consider switching to green alternatives.

  3. Check Your Filters: Take a moment to inspect the filters in your home’s heating, cooling, and purifying systems, as well as your vacuum cleaner. Clean or replace them as needed to ensure they’re working efficiently.

  4. Make a List: As you go through your products, keep a list of items you need to replace. Consider adding natural, non-toxic options to your shopping list.

  5. Check-In: Share your progress on our GPFC Facebook page! Post a photo of your cleaned-out cabinet or a new green product you’re excited to try.

Extra Tips for Success:

  • Ventilation: Open windows when possible to improve indoor air quality and let in fresh air.

  • Air Purifiers: Consider investing in an air purifier, especially if you have allergies or want to improve your home’s air quality.

  • DIY Cleaners: Explore DIY cleaning solutions using ingredients like vinegar, baking soda, and essential oils. They’re effective and non-toxic!

Remember, the goal today is to create a cleaner, healthier living environment by choosing safer cleaning products and improving your home’s air quality.
